Love is in the air: Locality members do weddings

It’s Valentine’s Day – and Locality members are celebrating!

With proposals of marriage galore, there are weddings and civil partnerships to be planned – and our members have some of the most exciting and quirky venues and wedding packages (the whole day from venue to the party and all the bits in between) around! There are some amazing spaces out their run by organisations who are using their assets to generate income from what can be a very expensive day. And for those celebrating, surely knowing their special day will help run services and provide support for others really is the icing on the cake!

Not only will you be celebrating your undying love for one another, you could be hosting your special day in a social enterprise that gives back to the community in so many ways. Here are some of our members’ offerings to consider as you embark on your beautiful life journey together:

A fabulous venue for both ceremony and party, Nineteen32 is run by Linskill and North Tyneside Community Development Trust in Tyne and Wear. Nineteen32 offers that ‘vintage’ vibe for full wedding packages with names like ‘The Whole Shebang’ and ‘Bells and Whistles’ – you’re guaranteed a proper knees-up in this old school (which is also home to the Tyneside Gin Festival)!

The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery

How about the picture perfect surroundings of The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery in Lancashire? They too will sort out the whole day including ceremony and, of course as they’re a gallery – photographs! They have beautiful 19th century wallpaper, some jaw-dropping taxidermy and your guests can arrive by steam train!

The Eden Project

If you’re more of a sporty type you might like to abseil into your ceremony or hurtle towards married bliss on a giant zip-wire? You can do both at The Eden Project – or sample more laid-back nuptials in the warmth of the Mediterranean Biome.

Grange Court

Grange Court

FC United of Manchester

You can’t actually host your ceremony here, but if you fancy starting your married life with the roar of the crowd in your ears community-owned football club FC United of Manchester has a great function suite you can hire at their Broardhurst Park ground.

Hebden Bridge Town Hall

Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge is well known for its range of great independent shops and artsy feel – making it a great place for a wedding or partnership celebration. Hebden Bridge Community Association is happy to offer ceremonies and receptions in a number of rooms within the beautifully renovated Town Hall, including the wood panelled Council Chamber.

Time and Talents

And if none of these quite hit the spot Time and Talents in Southwark are currently developing a wedding business.  They’re housed in an old mortuary so it won’t be long till you can say “Till death do us part” in a very fitting venue!

Sir John Moore Foundation
