Project Support Worker – Toynbee Hall
£20,000 per annum pro rata / 21 hours per week (3 days Tues-Thurs) / Contract until July 2014
Aspire is in its seventh year and successfully works across Tower Hamlets to support the needs of young people (13-14 year olds) who are excluded/ marginalised within the school system. The project makes a real difference to lives of young people by offering them new experiences and offering spaces in which to gain confidence and take on new challenges.
The Project Support Worker will work in two schools delivering Aspire sessions and supporting volunteers but will also lead new pilot work in 1-2 other schools. This pilot work will focus on combining one-to-one mentoring with group work with young people in year 7 and year 8 (11-13 year olds) who are vulnerable and at risk. Your role will be to lead on creating session materials, training and supporting volunteers, and developing a thorough evaluation process for this new work. The aim will be to offer this new work to schools in September 2014.
As Project Support Worker you will need to be inspirational and highly motivated individual with a real passion for work with young people. It will be important that you have experience of working in school settings and have experience of training and developing volunteers. An insight into the mentoring process would be desirable too.
