Development Officer (Neighbourhood Planning) – Locality
£28,750pa (or £31,500 pa with London weighting). Fixed term contract to 31 March 2015.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to coordinate support to communities on our neighbourhood planning programme.
Locality is building a movement of community organisations dedicated to changing the world one neighbourhood at a time. We help community organisations learn from each other. We build expertise on community ownership, enterprise, and service transformation. We also lead three ground-breaking national programmes: Neighbourhood Planning, Community Organising, and Community Rights.
It is an exciting time to join Locality and be part of one of the most innovative and effective networks in the country. This role will focus on Neighbourhood Planning, although there may be opportunity to work across other work streams where appropriate.
The postholder will need an up to date knowledge of the planning system, and its recent changes, with particular reference to Neighbourhood Planning and the provisions contained within both the Localism Act 2011 and the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 and other relevant legislation and policy.
The role will be to coordinate support to groups to enable them to achieve designation for their neighbourhoods, the first step towards a neighbourhood plan. Additionally the post holder will oversee the delivery of a national shared learning programme and have the opportunity to work with exciting partners such as the Eden Project.
You will need to have experience in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, have excellent attention to detail and a flexible attitude.
This role is available on full-time basis of 35 hours per week for a fixed term period until March 31 2015. The role will require significant travel. Home and flexible working are both options for the role which involves frequent travel across England.

Membership Developer Northern England – Locality
£22,000pa (£13,200pa for 21 hours pw)

As part of our Membership team, you will contribute to the strengthening of our membership and our movement locally, regionally and across England, and in particular provide advice and support through our new Locality Exchange help-line, through member networking events and through supporting other members of staff with member-related activities.
You will be working directly with members and need to have strong relationship building, communication and IT skills, as well as experience of organising and managing small/medium sized events. Experience of using databases would also be an advantage.
This role is available on a part-time basis of up to 21 hours per week and will require travel across Northern England and occasionally nationally. Home and flexible working are both possible although ideally we’d like to locate you with a member near to where you live.

Chief Officer – Rowner Community Trust
Circa £37,000
Set-up two years ago with the support of local residents and community organisations, Rowner Community Trust is now seeking a full time chief officer to lead its next phase.
The Trust supports the continued growth of Rowner as a vibrant and active community by developing economic, social and environmental improvements. Future funding is secured through a community levy established as a legacy of the Rowner Renewal Partnership’s regeneration of the area.
As well as running the Nimrod Community Centre and promoting a range of community events, the Trust currently employs a community facilitator and is developing capacity to manage the estate environment.
The Chief Officer will further develop these functions as well as supporting the development of the Board and its strategic planning. Previous leadership of a comparable community organisation is essential and experience of establishing social enterprise, particularly for environment or estate management, is desirable.

General Manager – Ford Park Community Group
£25,472 pa pro rata, 20 hours per week (6 month contract, continuation subject to funding)
Ford Park Community Group is looking for a well-organised and experienced manager who can oversee the running of this unique and multi-faceted community project.
The successful candidate will have a good track record of financial management and of managing staff. He/she will have:
- excellent communication skills
- experience in the voluntary/community sector
- experience of grant applications and grant monitoring
- experience of the catering industry would be a bonus.
This is an exciting but challenging position which requires a cool head and a steady nerve. You will need a ‘can-do’ attitude, determination and tenacity. In return you will have the opportunity to work alongside some wonderful volunteers and a great team of staff in an inspiring environment.
