Communications Officer – Locality

£33,256pa (fixed term)

This is an opportunity for a committed Communications professional to join the team at Locality – the leading nationwide network of community enterprises, development trusts, settlements and social action centres.

The role covers the breadth of communications responsibilities promoting Locality and its government programmes of Community Rights, Neighbourhood Planning, Our Place and Community Organisers including events. Working closely with the communications team and delivery staff to implement strategies, you will publicise significant milestones and communities’ achievements to the media and through websites, emails and other promotions, co-ordinating across social media platforms.

You will have knowledge of different communications channels and audience segmentation, as well as an understanding of the community or third sector. This position requires excellent written and editing skills and the ability to balance the priorities of many projects. You will have strong IT skills including experience of content management systems (CMS), email software such as Mail Chimp, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce.

Fixed term until March 2015. The duration of this contract may be extended, and if applicable will be discussed with the post holder at the appropriate time.

We are looking to appoint an Administrator to work on the Our Place programme which is a high profile, fast-moving £4.3 million programme to support 120+ communities across England work towards making local services in their neighbourhoods better for all. Strategic Business Manager – LS14 Trust

The LS14 Trust was established 5 years ago. It is a developing social enterprise with a focus on the economic, social and environmental regeneration of Seacroft and the surrounding LS14 postcode area. Its aim is to encourage, nurture and give expression to the enterprise, creativity and spirit of the local community in order to see its potential fulfilled.

Constituted in early 2009 as a company limited by guarantee LS14 has worked closely with Locality to put a structure in place and Board of Directors made up of local residents and business people.

LS14 Trust operates from The Digital Lounge a community hub in Seacroft with over a 1000 members. It supports and develops local community events as well as provide a free learning and IT drop in resource space for the community.

This is a challenging opportunity for a dynamic, creative individual who can work in a responsive manner and who is passionate about the power of local influence to make positive change within neighborhoods.

Development Manager – Cooltan Arts

CoolTan Arts is an arts mental health organisation that believes mental wellbeing is enhanced by the power of creativity. It has existed since 1990 and became a registered charity in 1997, set up by and for people with mental distress. The organisation has grown substantially and is keen to develop a new direction in terms of its service delivery and fundraising.

Mental Health and Well Being Advisors x2 – Cooltan Arts

£25,000 pro rata,pPart time 15 hours a week (2 days)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at CoolTan Arts. It is looking for two part-time Mental Health Well Being Advisors

This role will pilot an exciting new service, to provide an innovative GP referral system of Arts on Referral (AoR) for people with low level mental-distress, building on the 23 year model established by CoolTan Arts (CA) for people with more severe mental ill-health; to enable CCGs to commission Social Prescribing, including Arts on referral (AoR). Increasing Cooltan’s referrals and the personal budget holder’s opportunities.

The post-holders will also provide GP surgeries with a dedicated creative mental Wellbeing Adviser, skilled in developing individual wellbeing plans for users of the health service.

Advocacy Training Coordinator – Cooltan Arts

£26,000 pro rata, 4 days a week. Initial 1 year contract, continuation subject to funding.

CoolTan Arts is a well-being creative arts centre based in the lively Walworth Road, London. It aims to promote positive mental health/well-being, bringing about a change in how participants perceive themselves, enable people gain greater focus, and to re-establish their relationships with society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new staff member to develop Cootan’s Self-Advocacy course, so that it becomes a fully externally endorsed/accredited programme, ‘participant-designed’, to enable people who experience mental distress to be better equipped to self-advocate in situations where they might otherwise be disempowered.

The post holder will develop the course to be franchised in the future to external organisations in mental health settings. The right person for this role requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, an out-going personality, be sensitivity to people’s needs, have a sense of humour and be an excellent team player.

Community Organisers Ltd (CoCo) is the legacy body for the national Community Organisers programme run by Locality and funded by the Office for Civil Society, which comes to an end in summer 2015. CoCo aims to continue the programme’s work to nurture a new, grassroots movement for community organising emerging directly from the hopes and concerns of neighbourhoods all over England.

CoCo will be a training organisation, a solidarity network for Community Organisers (COs), and a champion for community organising.

The role aims to support the development of CoCo as the legacy body for the national Community Organisers programme, with a strong focus on developing and managing CoCo’s provision of training in the Foundations of Community Organising, the Digital Organising course that CoCo has developed and other training.
