This month marked the culmination of a four year study into premises for the Third Sector in London, commissioned by the London Third Sector Premises Forum, (of which Locality is a steering group member).
The report found that there is a very mixed picture in terms of strategic partnership working within London borough councils and between councils and the third sector – with huge variations in policy and amounts of discretionary rate relief awarded across London.
The report also found that support is needed on practical premises management issues, rent, lease negotiations and developing proposals for capital investment.
The final report makes a series of evidence based recommendations aimed at central and local government, funders, professional bodies and others to address urgent issues related to strategic planning, communication, rents, rates and values, and accountability and standards.
The final report was launched to an enthusiastic audience of over 80 delegates on the 6 February 2013 at the St Lukes Centre, Islington,
