Community-led housing policy

Community-led housing projects are a way for local people to build, own and manage homes within their own neighbourhoods.

What Locality believes

We believe that community-led housing has the potential to empower communities and to deliver projects that people care about, which meet local needs and maximise the financial and social benefits to support the wider regeneration of an area.

What is Locality doing?

Community-led housing is a genuine and achievable option for many neighbourhoods. To support the future development of community-led housing, we have funded a new report Understanding the Potential of Small Scale Community-Led Housing.

We are proud to run a vibrant community-led housing group for our members. This support existing community anchors providing homes and members interested in doing so in the future. This group shares best practice, skills and experience, as well as helping to shape our policy calls, consultation responses and programmes.
