Future Places Network

The Future Places Network will debate in full the challenges and opportunities of Brexit, and put Locality members at the heart of the most important policy debate in a generation.

This member-led policy network will develop three core themes that have emerged from our conversations over the past 12 months, showcasing the role that community anchor organisations can play in post-Brexit Britain, and working together to ensure that the emerging policy environment supports neighbourhoods to thrive.

We are organising three network meetings in locations around the country to discuss each theme in turn:

•    Community Engagement: Putting communities in control
•    Community Cohesion: Bringing places together
•    Community Economic Development: No neighbourhood ‘left behind’.

These interactive, deliberative workshops will celebrate and share innovative practice, identify where there are gaps in current activity, and draw out implications for policy.

Locality will produce a final report in spring 2018 to bring together the conclusions of the discussions and outline the key demands of the community sector as Brexit negotiations meet their midway point before the UK’s planned exit in summer 2019.

Get involved

We want to involve as many Locality members as possible in this network, and are looking for a core group of members who will be able to attend all three meetings in Autumn (Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham).

For those who would like to be part of the core group, please sign up here.

A small discretionary travel budget is available for those intending to take part in all three meetings, on a first-come-first-served basis. All members will be invited to attend meetings, dates of which will be announced imminently.

Not a Locality member, but want to be involved? Sign up today.
