Neighbourhood planning policy

Neighbourhood planning gives communities the right to create a plan for their area, setting out how they’d like it to develop and where they’d like new shops, homes and offices to be built.

What Locality believes

Neighbourhood planning provides a powerful set of tools for local people to ensure that they get the right types of development for their community. We’ve been involved in neighbourhood planning since 2011.

What is Locality doing?

We deliver funding and support on behalf of the DCLG to groups around England involved in neighbourhood planning, via our My Community website.

In the past year alone we processed 452 neighbourhood planning grants totalling £2,560,892 and we dealt with 704 requests for support.

We’ve produced dozens of guides, toolkits and resources on neighbourhood planning, including the best-selling (if it wasn’t free) Roadmap Guide to Neighbourhood Planning – with worksheets & map.
