How to become a community organiser

Community organisers must be passionate about bringing people together, building dialogues, listening to ideas and making their community a better place to live.
The role of a community organiser is to help residents, groups, associations and businesses in their area to develop their power to act together for the common good and take action to tackle local issues which are important to them.
If you’re interested in becoming a community organiser, please take a look at our Community Organising – Is it for me? document and the trainee community organiser job description.
Visit the Community Organisers website www.cocollaborative.org.uk to find out more about the work of the organisers.
Apply to your local host organisation
To become a community organiser you must apply directly to your local host organisation. You can find a list of hosts currently recruiting on the Community Organisers website.
We are still recruiting host organisations and aim to have hosts in as many areas of the country as possible. So if there isn’t a host in your local area yet – there may be soon.
