About the role
We are looking for a Development Officer for our North and Central England Services team, based within or within travelling distance of Yorkshire – particularly West Yorkshire. This is a small team of 7, who are focused, friendly and genuinely driven by our values and mission.
The role is all about delivering high quality consultancy, business advice and support to members, community organisations and other stakeholders including local authorities.

You will need
The experience and/or ability to provide high quality support in several of the following areas:
- Business planning and feasibility work.
- Community business start-up support.
- Governance and legal structures.
- Land and property related developments including community asset transfer.
- Social impact measurement.
- Project evaluation.
- Partnership development and collaboration.
- Community engagement.
- Supporting investment readiness and access to funding (grant, loan and community shares).
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting business development and income generation, developing and responding to trading and other opportunities that meet the aims of Locality, and meeting income generation targets.
Tendering for contracts and developing funding bids, meeting of contractual requirements, and providing responsive and high-quality services
Providing high quality business support to community organisations and others.
Working with our programme team to deliver advice and support to participants of programmes administered by Locality.
Engaging with Locality member organisations and supporting the development of our member offer – ensuring that Locality member’s needs drive the development of services and utilise member experience, skills and knowledge effectively.
Developing external relationships including partnerships and alliances to support Locality’s vison, values, and ambitions.
