About the role
Do you believe in the power of community? Do you have the skills and experience to help community organisations thrive? This role is all about delivering high quality support and business advice to community organisations and others.
Locality is a charity and the national membership network supporting community organisations to be strong and successful. Based in or within travelling distance of Yorkshire, you will be part of a team working with our members (community organisations), Local Authorities and other organisations in the region and beyond, delivering high quality support and business advice. And being part of the wider Locality family means your work will inform how we support community organisations right across the country, influencing campaigns and promoting community power.
The work is as exciting and diverse as the community organisations we work with. Our team members are multi-skilled specialising in one or more of the following areas: community business planning (incl. start-ups), governance and legal structures, property related developments (incl. community asset transfer), impact measurement, evaluation, community engagement, supporting investment readiness and access to funding (e.g. grants, loans and community shares).
We are looking for people with experience of working in or with community organisations and enterprises and with a track record of developing organisations to be successful.
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion
The sector in which Locality works is often dominated by people from White British and/or people with privileged backgrounds. We are looking for people that bring a different perspective so that we better reflect the communities we serve. We are keen to see applications from people who have lived experience of living and or working in communities/organisations from Yorkshire.
We particularly welcome applications from those who are significantly underrepresented in our organisation and sector, such as disabled people and people from Black, Asian and minoritized ethnic communities. Where we have candidates of equal merit, we will prioritise selection and appointment of people who are from such backgrounds. We will also offer interview coaching to shortlisted candidates from underrepresented groups.
