The Ouseburn Trust was established as an independent development trust for the Ouseburn Valley in 1996.

Currently it manages properties, promotes regeneration, develops heritage initiatives (including tours of the award-winning Victoria Tunnel), and works with others for a vibrant, diverse and sustainable future for the historic Ouseburn Valley in Newcastle upon Tyne.

About the role

We are currently seeking a part-time Environment Officer to develop the Ouseburn Trust’s role in the maintenance and enhancement of woodland, green and in-between spaces in the Lower Ouseburn Valley (Newcastle upon Tyne) for the enjoyment of residents, visitors and businesses.

The main purposes of the role are:
• To contribute to and assist in maintaining, sustaining and developing of the open spaces of the lower Ouseburn Valley, including protecting its wildlife and promoting access for visitors.
• To develop volunteering in open space management by supporting and developing the team of volunteer supervisors and widening opportunities for session volunteers (from businesses, residents and other sources).

The Ouseburn Trust recognises the crucial role the maintenance and management of our open spaces play in addressing the challenges facing our environment and the diversity of species.
