About the role
Following a review of our business model and restructure of our senior management team this post has been created to increase our business development capacity and provide a new approach to partnerships, product and service development and income generation. This role is pivotal to taking forward our vision, values and strategy and will report to our CEO, Tony Armstrong.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic membership-based organisation. As our Head of Business Development, you will be working with a dynamic team of diverse and enthusiastic people, committed to success for our members to achieve positive change for communities across England. You will lead on researching and tracking new and emerging markets, trends and opportunities. You will develop and nurture new relationships and partnerships across the sector and with key influencers.
You will be expected to challenge current ways of working to create space for new ideas to blossom. You will work with the new Director of Marketing and Partnerships to develop the business model for My Community and will coordinate bids and proposals for Locality and its partnerships. As part of the senior management team you will exemplify Locality’s values and our principles of equality and social justice.
To join us you will have:
- Experience of successful business development and income generation, with the confidence in your skills and abilities to identify and implement new ideas
- Strong research, financial analysis and modelling knowledge and skills to and the systems and procedures to support your work
- Effective communication skills to present complex ideas, pitch for work and engage existing and potential partners
The sector in which Locality works is often dominated by people from white privileged backgrounds. We are looking for people that bring a different perspective so that we better reflect the communities we serve. The current Covid 19 emergency has proved that our teams can work effectively from around the country. So, although our Head Office is in London, this post will initially be home based and will remain flexible on location.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identify new and emerging markets for business development
- Assess and analyse the potential to grow and adapt existing services and products
- Develop new relationships and partnerships across sectors, supporting our partner membership programme
- Contribute to reactive income generation opportunities, such as coordinating bids and proposals, undertaking analysis and modelling
- To uphold Locality’s principles of equality and social justice in all aspects of the role
