We are looking for a Project Assistant to play a key role in preparing its collections as it prepares to embark on a major capital project to build a new museum in the historic West Smithfield market building and relocate the museum’s collections to this new space.
About the role
Working alongside curators, registrars, conservators, collections care and documentation colleagues this post will improve and expand collections information, build new digital assets and address documentation backlogs.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the museum’s extensive collections. Working predominantly at the London Wall site you will carry out tasks with a high degree of accuracy and enjoy solving complex and challenging documentation issues whilst also being willing and able to record large amounts of data. You will be highly organised and self-motivated with good attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your own workload. You will also be a committed team player and excellent communicator.
As well as having experience of working with collections and knowledge of museum documentation processes you will also have practical experience of using a museum collections (or equivalent) management system, handling and packing objects as well as digital photography.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 20 January 2019. Interviews will be held on Thursday 31 January 2019.
How to apply
The Museum of London is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and BAME candidates, who are currently under-represented in our organisation.
