View mapAbout this event
At this event, we are bringing together the voluntary and community and public sectors in the North East to discuss commissioning, contracting and the delivery of public services. We will hear from leaders and practitioners on the challenges facing both sectors, emerging new innovations and best practice.
Locality’s Keep it Local Network is seeking to build momentum around approaches to commissioning which harness the power of community, convene sessions to share of best practice and work through practical barriers to change.
The Network brings together creative, committed people ambitious for their local areas, to learn from what one another is doing and help make it add up to more than the sum of its parts.
We’ll kick the event off with a panel discussion, hearing from Newcastle Council Deputy Leader, Joyce McCarty; Newcastle CVS Chief Executive, Sally Young; and others from the local voluntary and community and public sectors on their experience of public sector contracting.
After lunch we’ll hear in more detail from Newcastle’s joint commissioning and procurement teams about how their working has evolved in recent years. Through facilitated discussion groups – and in the context of Locality’s Keep it Local approach – we’ll discuss lessons from this evolution and potential for further evolution.
