About this event

Learn about a transformational opportunity for communities. This major infrastructure project offers long term investment to deliver a community’s priorities, bringing prosperity and wellbeing through new jobs, training, community facilities, supporting infrastructure and by realising a community’s vision.

Radioactive Waste Management is the public body tasked with delivering a deep underground Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) for the long-term management of UK higher-activity radioactive waste.  We have used nuclear technologies for over 60 years in the UK to power our homes, for medical diagnoses and treatment, in industry and defence and this has produced waste that needs to be disposed of safely and securely to protect current and future generations.

The success of this community consent-based policy depends on finding a site with suitable geology and a willing host community.

Hosted by Jo Williams, Locality, with Sam King – Senior Technical Programme Manager and Stephen Brown – Community Investment Manager, RWM

This event is open to all Locality members.
