This month: Meet Tura Arutura, Executive Director, Africa House, Belfast Northern Ireland.
Tura has recently published a research report examining the persistent challenge of systemic racial discrimination in Northern Ireland. Despite the Race Equality Strategy (2015–2025), policy failures, inadequate data collection, and institutional indifference have meant there has been little progress. This report brings together evidence from community testimonies, academic research, and policy analyses to highlight key challenges and propose actionable solutions.
“Our society must unite against the divisive forces of racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia. Recent violence has highlighted the urgent need for action and to ensure that every community in Northern Ireland feels safe, valued, and heard. Together, we can create a future where tolerance and inclusion are the foundations of our shared society.”
