This month: Meet Tura Arutura, from African Arts Collective, Belfast Northern Ireland.
You may remember Tura from his inspiring ‘lightening talk’ on the main stage at Locality’24 in Manchester. Now, he’s back to share insights from his newly published research on systemic racial discrimination in Northern Ireland—a powerful and timely piece that blends community voices, academic analysis, and policy critique.
Tura’s report reveals how policy gaps, inadequate data collection, and institutional indifference have stalled real progress in Northern Ireland. But it’s not just a diagnosis - it makes recommendations for change.
“Our society must unite against the divisive forces of racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia. Recent violence has highlighted the urgent need for action and to ensure that every community in Northern Ireland feels safe, valued, and heard. Together, we can create a future where tolerance and inclusion are the foundations of our shared society.”
Come along for 45 minutes in your lunchbreak to hear about Tura’s research and:
