It is now over four years since the then prime minister told us; “you must stay at home”. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact across society, and posed specific – potentially existential – challenges for community organisations that own and manage community spaces. Locality’s “Navigating the Storm” research showed how these were overcome, through the innovation of community leaders, alongside emergency funding support. But since then there has been no let up, with the cost of living crisis taking hold, and many areas now experiencing a crisis of council finances. So… What is it like to run a community organisation in 2024? What’s changed, what hasn’t? What are the challenges and opportunities? And where do we go from here? | Led by Chris Wood, Director of Marketing and Partnerships |
14:50 | Member opportunities and final remarks | Rosy Hearn, Membership Manager |
15:00 | Close |
This event is open to all those with the Essentials, Membership Plus or Partner package. If you have the Network package and would like to attend we have a limited number of places available. Please contact members@locality.org.uk before booking.
This activity is supported by funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. Thanks to National Lottery players, Locality UK has received almost £1.9 million over three years to support the Connectors UK programme, delivered in partnership with DTA Scotland, DTA Wales and DT Northern Ireland. Through the programme we will bring local community organisations together, to build resilience, share innovative practice and shape their community’s future.
