Funded peer learning

Connect with like-minded people to learn new skills, share ideas and support one another.

Our funded peer learning programme gives you access to the support and expertise of other Locality members. We can find you a partner organisation and help you cover the costs of a learning opportunity that is tailored to your organisation.

What is the funded peer learning programme?

A peer learning programme designed to connect you with the people and experience you need. Help you solve a knotty issue, learn new skills, or get support from someone who has ‘been there done that’.

This programme offers both digital peer mentoring and face-to-face opportunities, so that you can identify new ideas and solutions in the way that best suits you.

You can match with people and organisations based on experience, background and interest. Make practical and meaningful connections to help you achieve your goals, find out what works (and what doesn’t!) and get the confidence to feel like “yeah, I can do that!”.

The programme is always open to ensure you can access specific support when you need it.

Witton Lodge were fantastic hosts! ... They spoke to us as peers, ... they made us feel as though we were able to achieve whatever we want to, even if we don't currently have the skills to do so, as neither did they when they started

FAQ's

  • Who can apply?

If you’re a member with the Essentials or Membership Plus package, you’re good to go! If you’ve chosen Network membership, you’ll need to upgrade to access the programme.

Drop us a line at members@locality.org.uk and we’ll sort it out for you.

  • How much is available?

We’ll give you up to £500 to help you get the most out of your learning opportunity. We encourage you to work with your host organisation to decide how the funding should be spent to ensure both organisations benefit.

To make funds go further we also encourage collaboration. Why not see if there’s another member who’d like to team up with you?

  • Are there any restrictions?

Unfortunately grants can‘t be used for salaries, bursaries for training courses or seminars, or for the purchase of capital equipment, software or publications.

  • What is your commitment to the programme?

We want to make sure the whole Locality network can benefit from our funded peer learning opportunities. Following your learning session(s), you will be asked to write a short blog outlining what you learned from your host organisation which we may share with our membership.

  • Does the programme have a deadline?

There are no deadlines: applications are continuously assessed, though we cannot guarantee funds will be available at all times.

The National Lottery Community Fund - Locality

This activity is supported by funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. Thanks to National Lottery players, Locality UK has received almost £1.9 million over three years to support the Connectors UK programme, delivered in partnership with DTA Scotland, DTA Wales and DT Northern Ireland. Through the programme we will bring local community organisations together, to build resilience, share innovative practice and shape their community’s future.
