Although this is a challenging time for public services, Locality have helped to show that it can also be an opportunity for creative thinking at the community and street level.

Community organisations know the place, the people, the problems and they care. They are nimble and cost effective and have been shown to offer better value for money. But sometimes they need to support to be most helpful in delivering local services.
We offer bespoke and flexible business support to help community organisations become strong and sustainable, so you have new and more reliable options for commissioning services locally.
How Locality can help
We have the experience and track record of building the capacity of community organisations, transforming them into strong and sustainable businesses. This gives you more options for procuring services locally, in the areas where you need most support.
We help community organisations to develop in a range of ways, including:
Organisational resilience check
Locality’s Lighthouse tool reviews a community organisation’s strength and sustainability. We support community organisations to use Lighthouse for a full and comprehensive review of the organisation including visits, facilitated planning days, detailed recommendations and action plans.
Our team provide support to address areas that need attention including governance, legal structures, and business planning.
Business planning and development
We work with community organisations in your area, helping them to think long term, focus on their goals and create a viable business plan. We have access to successful business models from across the national Locality network, enabling us to benchmark and finely tune financial models.
One of our specialisms is supporting groups to own and develop community buildings and spaces, through Community Asset Transfer or using the Community Right to Bid.
During 2015/16 alone, Locality has helped organisations in Calderdale secure over £1.3m investment in return for the £20k grant awarded by the Council.

We help community organisations with financial modelling and developing proposals and pitches for social investment. We support community organisations to secure investment through grant funding, national programmes such Neighbourhood Planning, social investment, community shares, crowdfunding and high value donations.
This investment helps build a stronger local economy and transform the lives of local people.
