Member discussion event: Navigating divisive politics

At a time when politics seems to be splitting us apart, how can community organisations align their political engagement with their core values?

22 July 2026 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Members only

About this event

Following the local and devolved elections in May, this member event will pick up on our first discussion in April and explore how shifting political dynamics are being felt at community level. With growing support for Reform UK and the Green Party, and declining confidence in traditional centre-left and centre-right politics, there is increasing public appetite for change.

While local issues such as housing, employment, health and social security remain central to voters, wider global pressures and cultural debates are also shaping community experiences.  Added to that, recent racist violence whipped up by false narratives following tragic events is adding to division and fuelling hatred.

Drawing on recent Locality reports, Community powered neighbourhoods and Creating places for everyone, this session will bring members together to discuss how community organisations can respond to political tensions and support inclusive, resilient local communities.

Hear from speakers from across our network and add your voice.

This event is for members with the Essentials or Membership Plus package. If you have the Partner package and would like to attend please get in touch at members@locality.org.uk.
